The top nonleague game features The Times’ No. 1 team, Woodbridge, hosting No. 3 Santa Margarita at 3 p.m. Thursday. Both teams are 1-0. Woodbridge, the defending Southern Section Division II champion, is led by senior Sierra Cristiano, who set the school single-season scoring record with 20 goals as a junior. Santa Margarita is looking to win its fourth straight section title, led by Katie Frattone and Katie Rivera. Unless Santa Margarita opts to move up to Division I or II, a loss will hurt Woodbridge more than the Eagles in the section rankings.
On Tuesday, Edison may have its hands full when the Chargers play at San Clemente at 3 p.m. The Chargers (3-0), ranked seventh, have scored 12 goals in three games, including 10 in last weekend’s South Torrance tournament, but the Tritons (2-0) are hoping to make a bid for the county’s top 10 with an upset. San Clemente is 2-0, and its seven goals have been scored by six different players.
Edison is led by sophomore forward Brooke Thulin with five goals. Alison Halpern, Courtney Tammelin and Emily Ernsdorf lead the Tritons.
