YORBA LINDA

Organizers of an effort to oust Mayor John M. Gullixson began collecting signatures Thursday for a recall petition initiated by residents who dislike his style of governing.
“He has said you can’t recall him just because you don’t like him,” said David Baker, who started the recall campaign last month. “He’s wrong, you can. That’s all it takes.”
City Clerk Carolyn Wallace determined Tuesday that the recall documents submitted by Baker met the requirements of the state election code. The petition, which needs 6,550 signatures from registered voters in Yorba Linda, will circulate for 120 days.
If enough valid signatures are collected by the end of three months, a recall election will be scheduled. There will soon be several people circulating the petition throughout the city, Baker said.
