Ahern to Discuss Bugging With Blair

Damage control for Northern Ireland’s peace process will be on the agenda when the prime ministers of Ireland and Britain meet in Finland to discuss a bugging device found in the car of Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams. Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern said he regarded the bugging as a “serious matter” and would discuss it with British counterpart Tony Blair during a previously arranged meeting at a European Union summit in Helsinki. Adams said the microphone, wiring and transmitter were found in the car used by his Roman Catholic republican party during talks with rival pro-British Protestant politicians.
