“Dharma and Greg’s” Jenna Elfman (above, with “Lateline’s” Miguel Ferrer) headlines in Milton Katselas’ “Visions and Lovers: Variations on a Theme,” premiering today at the Skylight Theatre. The evening of two one-acts also features Suzzanne Douglas (“The Parent ‘Hood”) and Richard Lawson.

“Albee’s People,” selections from Edward Albee’s works exploring the heights and depths of the human psyche, features two separate bills in repertory at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. “Albee’s Women” opens Saturday; “Albee’s Men” opens next Sunday.
Movies
In the romantic comedy “Blast From the Past,” Brendan Fraser plays a young man who has spent his entire life in a bomb shelter. With Alicia Silverstone, Sissy Spacek and Dave Foley, it opens in general release Friday.

“Message in a Bottle” stars Kevin Costner as a beach-dwelling loner who writes anonymous love letters and then sets them adrift. Robin Wright Penn, above right, plays a single mother who is moved by his letters. Paul Newman co-stars as Costner’s father in the film, which opens Friday in general release.
Music
Russian-born and -trained pianist Evgeny Kissin, 27, earned legendary status as a 12-year-old prodigy playing Chopin with the Moscow State Philharmonic. He brings his specialty to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in a three-part, all-Chopin recital Tuesday night.
Art
“Edward Weston: Photography and Modernism,” an exhibition of 140 vintage prints opening Thursday at the L.A. County Museum of Art, surveys the career of the great Modern artist and onetime Glendale resident. Organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, it traces the artist’s journey from Constructivism to Modernism and finally, Surrealism. Above: Chambered Nautilus (1S), 1927.
Pop Music
The Bob Marley Day Celebration at the Long Beach Arena has become one of the key events on the Southern California pop calendar. The 18th annual staging includes Beenie Man, Cobra and Marcia Griffiths on Saturday and Alpha Blondy, Gregory Isaacs and Sister Carol next Sunday.
Jazz
Hubert Laws, whose music ranges from classical melodies to funk, has long been a major jazz flutist. At the Jazz Bakery for four nights starting Wednesday, Laws leads a quintet with keyboardists John Beasley and Rob Mullins, bassist Tony Dumas and drummer Ralph Penland.
Video
A month before Disney released “A Bug’s Life,” DreamWorks unveiled its own computer-animated insect flick, “Antz,” with the voice of Woody Allen as a whiny ant named Z who falls for the colony’s Princess Bela (Sharon Stone). The video flies into stores Tuesday.
