Newborn Found Dead in Trash; Woman Arrested

ALHAMBRA — A 19-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder after detectives found the body of a newborn baby in the trash can of her home, authorities said Monday.
Prisca Leung was at Garfield Medical Center seeking treatment Saturday when doctors determined that she had recently given birth. Concerned about the safety of the baby, police officers went to her home where the body of a baby boy was discovered, an Alhambra police detective said.
Officials said it was unknown whether the baby was alive at the time of birth. The results of an autopsy will be presented today to the Los Angeles County district attorney.
