A gunman shot and seriously wounded a prison warden in Macao, the fourth shooting in the tiny Portuguese-run territory in three days, police said. Assistant Warden Chan Sec-chun, 47, was shot in the shoulder and face outside his home as he was returning from work, police said. He has a “10% survival chance” because one of the bullets might have caused major brain damage, a doctor said. Macao, a gambling center, has been rocked in recent years by a wave of violent crimes attributed mostly to organized-crime triads. The violence has been a source of concern to China, which is preparing to resume control over the territory in December.
