Thadis R. McLeroy; Trucking Company Owner

Ventura resident Thadis Richard McLeroy died Wednesday. He was 93.
McLeroy was born May 20, 1905, in Sulphur Springs, Texas. He moved to Ventura County in 1943 and worked in the transportation department at the U. S. Naval Construction Battalion Center at Port Hueneme during World War II.
He later owned McLeroy Trucking Co. in Ventura.
He helped build the Church of the Nazarene in Ventura and was an active member.
McLeroy is survived by a son, Bob McLeroy; two daughters, Marie Parillo and Millie Guerra; two sisters, Geneva Goodman and Juanita Adams; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mecie McLeroy; a son, Thadis Lee McLeroy, and a daughter, Ruby Hawkins.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura. A service will be held there at 11 a.m. Saturday, with interment to follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura. The Rev. Dan Hull from the Church of the Nazarene will officiate.
