Board Approves Lombardo’s Transfer to Newbury Park

Chris Lombardo, an All-Tri-Valley League quarterback at St. Bonaventure High last season, has been cleared to attend Newbury Park after the Oxnard Union High School District Board of Trustees approved his transfer Monday night.
Lombardo, a junior who lives in Camarillo, cited educational reasons for the transfer. An Oxnard district administrator tried to block the transfer.
Also transferring to Newbury Park on Tuesday was sophomore running back Marcus Crawford, who attended Thousand Oaks and is considered one of the most promising football players in the Marmonte League.
Lombardo and Crawford transferred under open enrollment, the state law that allows parents to send their children to schools outside of their neighborhoods if space is available.
