Horvat, Phillips Spark Northridge

Eric Horvat and Daniel Phillips each homered and drove in three runs for Cal State Northridge in an 8-4 nonconference victory over host UC Santa Barbara on Friday.
Horvat had two hits and scored twice, and Phillips had three hits to help the Matadors (3-2) end a two-game losing streak.
Tim Bell (2-0) struck out six and walked four in 5 2/3 innings for Northridge, allowing three runs and seven hits. Trevor Gray allowed one hit in 3 1/3 innings to earn his first save.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
The Master’s 92, Hope International 64--Joey Penberthy scored 22 points for host Master’s in a nonconference game.
The Mustangs (11-11) outrebounded Hope International, 57-37. Master’s forward Joclin Julmist had a game-high 10 rebounds, giving him 1,007 in his career, fourth in school history.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Cal Lutheran 60, Pomona-Pitzer 55--The Regals (14-3, 4-1) used an 8-0 run to break a 50-50 tie and held on despite scoring only two points in the last three minutes to move into a first-place tie in the SCIAC with host Pomona-Pitzer (11-6, 4-1).
Nicole Sanchez scored 14 points for Cal Lutheran.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
UC Santa Barbara def. CS Northridge, 15-9, 15-8, 15-6--Junior Mosones had 15 kills for the Matadors (1-2, 1-1) in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation loss at Santa Barbara (2-2, 1-2).
