Opening-day revenues at this year’s San Fernando Valley Fair, held in June at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank, showed a 48% increase, event spokesman Bruce Dahl said.
Paid attendance for the 3 1/2-day fair totaled $14,000, keeping pace with last year, he said. On opening day, senior citizens and members of the military were admitted free, as were fifth- and sixth-graders in honor of their graduation from middle school.
Fair officials are already planning for an extended production next year, billed the “First Fair of the Millennium.”
The event will be held at the new, permanent fairgrounds at the Hansen Dam Recreation Center in Lake View Terrace.
