Leggett & Platt Firm Acquires Arc Specialties

Arc Specialties, Valencia, which manufactures commercial merchandise handling and storage systems, has been acquired by Leggett & Platt, a commercial and residential furnishings firm, for an undisclosed sum. Leggett also announced the acquisitions of Met Displays of Chicago and Toledo Store Fixtures, Perrysburg, Ohio, manufacturers of store fixtures; Beeline Group, Newark, Calif., a manufacturer of store display units; and Jarke Corp. of Niles, Ill., which makes merchandise storage systems. The five businesses have annual revenues of $165 million and are expected to increase Leggett’s annual sales by 7.3% or $245 million, the company said. Leggett had revenues of $3.37 billion in 1998.
