Supply Drop

The U.S. women’s soccer team fully deserved its day at Disneyland. The air crew who flew the 14-hour mission to drop medical supplies to the research team in Antarctica deserves no less (July 12). This crew risked their collective lives so that one person, perhaps unknown by name to the crew, might know whether she has breast cancer. While we cheer the women’s soccer team members whose names have been mentioned so often, may we also cheer in gratitude for the selflessness of those air crew members, whose names The Times did not publish.

* Our nation is right to be proud of the pilots and air crew who brought medicine to that researcher in Antarctica. If only we got that excited about bringing basic health care to the uninsured.
