Re “Gore Proposes Nationwide System for Gun Licensing,” July 13: Al Gore says of his gun control proposal that unless you complied “you could not buy a handgun . . . not on a street corner, not anywhere in America.” I guess that would work in the same way that laws prohibiting illegal drug sales have eliminated that social evil.

Gore and Gov. Gray Davis elaborate on current and future plans to rigidly control all firearms--everything but the musket of Revolutionary times. As a gun owner, in times past, such plans would frustrate and annoy me. But I have come up with a simple solution to the byzantine plots of the gun control mob: Just say no.
