Universal Electronics Inc.: The Cypress supplier of universal remote controls and other technologies for home video and audio equipment said net income for the second quarter was $1.2 million, or 17 cents a share, down 8% from the $1.3 million, or 20 cents a share, reported a year ago. Sales declined 8% to $22.8 million from $24.7 million. The 1998 figure included $2.4 million related to the company’s discontinued North American retail business.
