Man Wanted in Girlfriend’s Death Arrested in Colorado

A Valley plumber wanted for questioning in the death of his girlfriend in March has been arrested in Colorado, said Officer Guillermo Campos of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Donald Lewis Brooks Jr. of Van Nuys was arrested without incident Wednesday, Campos said, after Colorado police received several tips from viewers of a crime-stoppers television program that featured Brooks.
Campos said Brooks’ van was found at the Colorado Springs residence where he was staying.
“Foothill [Division] detectives are on their way there now to bring him back,” Campos said.
Brooks, 34, is suspected of leaving 32-year-old Lisa Kerr in the back seat of her burning car March 24 near the Roscoe Boulevard exit of the Hollywood Freeway.
Though the woman’s cause of death has not been determined, police said she was alive when the car was set on fire.
Police believe Brooks became enraged because Kerr tried to break up a relationship of about a year.
