Survival Insurance to Fight State Charges
- Share via
Survival Insurance Inc., accused by the state Department of Insurance last month of price-gouging and threatening its customers, filed papers recently stating it will defend itself against the charges, which could result in the revocation of its license. The Department of Insurance said that more than 700 complaints were logged against the Los Angeles-based company since 1997. The brokerage, one of the state’s largest with 21 offices, would have automatically had its license revoked had it not responded within 30 days. Department spokesman Scott Edelen said a hearing by the state Office of Administrative Hearings will be scheduled within the next few weeks.
