The City Council will determine whether to proceed with a study of the Orange County Fire Authority contract at its meeting Tuesday. The Fire Authority is requesting a 10-year contract, with a built-in cost increase for the city of 3% for the first five years and 4% for the succeeding five years.
The $15,000 feasibility study will look at alternatives to the contract. Possibilities include contracting with the Garden Grove Fire Department and finding a solution in cooperation with Stanton, Buena Park and Garden Grove, said city spokeswoman Jennifer Gaetano.
The city has contracted with the Fire Authority since 1995 and pays $5.8 million annually for its services.
