The Traffic Commission approved placing a crossing guard at a busy intersection for one year to aid students who walk to George L. White Elementary School. Commissioners voted 3 to 0 to install a traffic guard at Street of the Golden Lantern and Chapparosa Park Road. Commissioners Hal Bayer and Gary Capata were absent.
If a city traffic study next year finds that more than 25 children per hour cross the intersection, the commission will recommend that the City Council make the position permanent, said David Rogers, city traffic engineer.
