Beach Closures

Bacteria-laden runoff has prompted Ventura County health officials to post “keep out of the water” signs at Ormond Beach in Oxnard.
In its weekly water-quality update, county officials advise swimmers and surfers to keep at least 50 yards away from an industrial drain at the beach through the weekend. Signs will be removed once subsequent testing shows that the pollution has dissipated, said Richard Hauge of the Environmental Health Division.
Light showers this week led health officials to advise beach-goers to steer clear of storm drains at all county beaches for three days, although Ormond Beach is the only portion of coastline where bacteria is known to exceed health limits.
Updated information is available throughout the week by telephone at 662-6555 or Internet at https://www.ventura.org/env_hlth/env.htm.
