Titans Let Two Slip Away at Alabama

Alabama posted a pair of one-run baseball victories over Cal State Fullerton Sunday in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Alabama held on for a 5-4 victory in the first game, which was continued after it was suspended in the seventh inning Saturday because of rain.
Then Alabama’s Kelly Gulledge hit a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth off Fullerton reliever Kirk Saarloos to lift the Crimson Tide to a 7-6 victory in the second game.
David Bacani hit a home run in the second game for Fullerton (10-5).
Jeremy Brown had a school-record five hits in the second game for Alabama (8-4).
In Big West Conference gymnastics:
CS Fullerton 189.675, UC Santa Barbara 185.425--Marianne Griffen won the beam (9.725) and Natalia Acosta won the floor (9.775) for host Fullerton.
In nonconference softball:
Chapman 5-3, CS Hayward 0-2--Stephanie Carew had six hits and two RBIs in the doubleheader sweep for the Panthers (5-1) at Hart Park.
Linsey Buendia pitched a three-hitter in the first game and Amie Barnes hit a two-out, run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie in the second game.
Hayward is 4-5.
