Servite Wins League Titles in Singles and Doubles

Servite won both the singles and doubles titles at the Golden West League tennis finals Friday. Servite’s Patrick Buchanan defeated teammate Rafael Nieto, 6-0, 6-0, to win the singles title and Rafael Sweet and Oscar Zambrano won the doubles final, 7-5, 4-6, 7-5, defeating teammates Richard Mauban and Joey Suntharaphat.
In the Sea View League:
Lingman wins--Woodbridge’s David Lingman defeated Corona del Mar’s Parker Collins, 6-4, 6-4, to win the singles title. Corona del Mar’s Sameer Chopra and Christian Jensen teamed up for a 5-7, 7-5, 6-4, victory over teammates Brian Morton and Randy Myers in the doubles final.
In the Sea View League boys’ volleyball third-place playoff:
El Toro wins--El Toro defeated Irvine, ranked ninth in the county, 16-14, 15-12, 15-8, to earn the league’s third Southern Section playoff entry. El Toro defeated sixth-ranked Santa Margarita, 15-12, 15-8, 15-13, in the semifinal to earn a berth in the final against Irvine.
