Police were searching Friday for a gunman wanted in connection with the shooting of a man during an apparent drug deal gone awry.
After the shooting, which occurred about 10:45 a.m. Friday in the 15300 block of Sherman Way, the gunman tried to drag the victim into a dark blue Chevrolet Suburban but was unsuccessful, said Los Angeles Police Officer Mike Partain. Officers recovered a gun and narcotics at the scene, he said.
The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, Partain said.
The gunman was described as an African American with a shaved head, about 30 years old, 6 feet 4 and weighing 250 pounds. Police said he fled in a Chevrolet Suburban with the California license plate 3WLY498.
Anyone with information is urged to call detectives at (213) 485-2504.
