YEREVAN, Armenia — Armenian police on Wednesday arrested a parliamentary deputy for being an alleged accomplice in the killings of the prime minister and other senior officials.
Musheg Movsisyan was arrested in the parliament chamber, where gunmen shot Prime Minister Vazgen Sarkisyan, parliament speaker Karen S. Demirchyan and six others late last month. Movsisyan denied having any connection with the killings.
Armenia’s state prosecutor said Movsisyan was connected with the leader of the gunmen, a nationalist radical, Nairi Unanyan.
Movsisyan was arrested after parliament lifted the lawmaker’s immunity.
