David Koral of Palisades High set a state record and tied a national mark by throwing 10 touchdown passes in the Dolphins’ 69-44 intersectional victory over Malibu Kilpatrick on Friday at Palisades.
Koral, a junior who leads the state in passing, completed 23 of 29 passes for 564 yards. His touchdowns came on plays of 15, 14, 20, nine, 60, 28, 54, 58, eight and 73 yards.
Koral broke the state record of nine touchdown passes in a game held by Robert De La Cruz of Cathedral, who did it last year against Panorama City St. Genevieve and this season against Long Beach St. Anthony. Koral tied the national record set in 1990 by Clifton Davis III of Sardis North Panola (Miss.).
He also established a state regular-season record with 3,787 yards, breaking the mark of 3,711 yards set last season by Kyle Boller of Newhall Hart.
Geoff McArthur had 12 receptions for 276 yards and five touchdowns for Palisades (8-2).
Jermaine Marshall of Kilpatrick (6-4), the state’s leading rusher, gained 215 yards and scored four touchdowns in 27 carries.
The Dolphins extended a 29-14 halftime lead on the first play of the second half on a 60-yard touchdown pass play from Koral to Johnnie Macon.
