The City Council will vote Tuesday on whether to charge more than $30,000 in demolition costs to the owner of a dilapidated apartment complex torn down last month.
The complex, formerly at 219 S. Melrose Ave., was torn down by the city after being declared a public nuisance in June. A number of hearings followed until the city received a judge’s order that it could have the building demolished.
The three-unit structure had been the source of complaints from neighbors for 12 years because the landlord failed to bring it up to city and county codes.
