In Division V:
St. Margaret’s 3, San Diego Francis Parker 0--Jenny Busch had 15 kills and Allison Bendush added nine to lead host St. Margaret’s to a 15-13, 15-6, 15-13 second-round victory.
The Tartans (23-1) will host Visalia Central Valley Christian in the semifinals Tuesday.
St. Margaret’s got off to a sluggish start, trailing in the first two games, before making several key adjustments.
“We adjusted really well to their offense,” Tartan Coach Susie Maga said. “We served tough and we had to keep the ball away from their tough middle players.”
Francis Parker (27-6) wasted no time in Game 1 against a slow-starting Tartan defense. But after trailing, 11-4, St. Margaret’s stormed back with eight unanswered points to take a 12-11 lead. The run was capped by a Kiley Hill ace.
Following a long talk from Maga after the first game, the Tartans looked like a different team, taking a 7-1 lead in Game 2 that never slipped out of their grasp.
The Lancers finished the season ranked No. 2 in the state and 27-6 overall.
