Nordhoff 27, Harvard-Westlake 21--Nordhoff’s Benny Borchard intercepted a Bryan Carlson pass at the one-yard line as time expired to preserve the Rangers’ victory at Nordhoff.
Nordhoff (2-2) scored 27 consecutive points to take a 27-14 lead in the fourth quarter and had the ball at the Harvard-Westlake 44 with 1:50 to play. Safety Aaron Alexander-Bloch sacked quarterback John Hill, forcing a fumble, and linebacker Alex Scott recovered and ran 42 yards for a touchdown that cut the Rangers’ lead to 27-21 with 1:37 to play.
Harvard-Westlake (3-1) recovered the ensuing onside kick and drove to the Nordhoff eight. A holding penalty moved the Wolverines back to the 21. Carlson’s pass intended for Lerato Simelane was intercepted by Borchard.
Hill connected with Chris Thomas for an 80-yard touchdown pass with 18 seconds left in the first half.
