The California State Library awarded the El Modena Branch Library a $5,000 Youth Services Grant to purchase magazines and books that will appeal to teenagers.
In the spring, some of the library’s office space will be converted into a young-adult reading room where teenagers can find materials for their age group.
The library is also planning to provide various programs for teenagers, including a youth club, workshops, a book discussion group and a chess club.
