Coach Alan Eberhart of Crescenta Valley is a man of his word, so he will take his defensive players out for pizza this week.
It is a reward for scoring the Falcons’ first defensive touchdown in 24 games.
The play occurred Friday night when Steve Rigamat stripped the ball from Keith Jarbo of Burroughs and ran it back 50 yards. When confronted by a Burroughs player, Rigamat lateraled to Jared Salisbury, who ran the final 20 yards for a score.
It was a remarkable play, but Eberhart wasn’t quite sure whether he wanted to reward a defense that gave up 473 yards in the game.
“I don’t feel good about it,” Eberhart said. “But I asked them and they said, ‘We want the pizza.’ ”
