The city has decided to allow the sale and use of certified “safe and sane” fireworks for New Year Eve’s celebrations. Residents also may organize block parties and apply to have their streets closed off.
The sale of fireworks will be allowed from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Dec. 29 to 31. Revelers will be allowed to discharge fireworks from 4 p.m. Dec. 31 until 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1.
Block parties will be permitted by application only and on a case-by-case basis, depending on location and the potential for traffic or safety problems.
