Golden West Sweeps in Volleyball

Grace Boyd had 14 kills to help Golden West defeat Irvine Valley, 15-6, 15-6, 15-10, in an Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball match Wednesday at Irvine Valley.

Natalie Snowden and Julie Renfro each had 11 kills for the Rustlers (9-0, 3-0 in conference).

Lyndsi Johnson and Shannon Llamas each had 11 kills for Irvine Valley (7-1, 2-1).

In other conference matches:

Cypress 3, Riverside 2--Heather Storey had 27 kills and Erika Williams added 21 for visiting Cypress (5-3, 2-1), which won, 15-12, 6-15, 15-9, 9-15, 15-12.

Orange Coast 3, Saddleback 2--Beth Waterman had 33 kills for host OCC (7-4, 2-1), which won, 15-13, 13-15, 15-7, 9-15, 15-9.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s golf:

Orange Coast wins--Jennifer Tunzi shot three-over 74 at Oak Creek to lead the Pirates, who won with 333 strokes. Saddleback was second at 346. Medalist Hye Joon Jung of Fullerton shot 73.

In South Coast Conference wrestling:

Golden West 27, Cerritos 17--Fernando Serratos won, 12-8, at 125 pounds for Golden West (7-4, 2-1), which defeated Cerritos for only the second time in school history.
