PREP FOOTBALL GAMES AT A GLANCE

Loara (4-2, 1-0) vs. Cypress (3-3, 1-0)
7 TONIGHT WESTERN HIGH
Both teams are approaching this as the key game in the Empire League title race. Billy Chavez had a breakthrough for Loara against Kennedy last week, rushing for a career-high 254 yards. The Saxon passing game, led by quarterback Jeremy Ellis, can also be effective. The defending league champion Centurions are banged up. Running back Darren Shorter is nursing an ankle sprain, kicker Paul Kerr is out with a broken leg and a host of defensive starters have missed time. Still, the Centurions had no problem against an improved Century team in a 54-19 league-opening victory last week.
