Fullback Michael Diggs of Channel Islands (2-5, 1-0) is expected to play little, if at all, in the Raiders’ Pacific View League game at Hueneme on Friday night.
Diggs, who has rushed for 456 yards and six touchdowns in 44 carries this season, didn’t play last week in a 34-16 loss to Santa Barbara because of an ankle injury suffered against Rio Mesa the previous week.
Phil Torres and Tommy Menga will play fullback in Diggs’ absence, but his speed will be missed.
“We’re still going to try to run the ball,” Coach Jack Willard said. “But Michael has just been so explosive for us. We can’t expect [Torres and Menga] to have any 40-yard gains or score on any 92-yard runs like Michael did.”
