Single Patrols

In a country where everyone is running around with semiautomatic weapons, I find it incomprehensible that officers in police patrol cars are still riding solo.
In every civilized country, police patrol cars have two officers: One drives, the other one handles communications and all the other jobs. When duty calls they are together and cover each other. No person would pull a gun if he or she knew that a second officer would shoot back seconds later. But if your chances are 50/50 that you might get away with murder (literally) by shooting the sole officer first, this danger will never end. Plus, a second policeman/woman is usually a very reliable witness.
