A shop employee at Knott’s Berry Farm suffered an injured right ankle when a 700-pound safe he was helping move onto a truck fell on his foot, a security official at the amusement park said Thursday.
“At no point was he trapped,” said Pat Chavez, a security supervisor.
The employee at the Geode Shop, which leases space at the park, was moving the safe with the store’s owner and another employee when the accident occurred shortly before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Chavez said.
The safe, being jacked up while on a pallet, apparently slipped while it was being lifted onto the flatbed truck, Chavez said.
Orange County Fire Authority paramedics took the injured man to Columbia West Anaheim Medical Center, he said. Information on the man’s condition was not immediately available.
Chavez said the safe contained dinosaur eggs that the shop owner was transporting to a fair for display.
