Purely Electric Bus? It Won’t Work
Wow! Gee! An electric shuttle bus [“Electric Bus Contracts Shuttle in New Era,” James Flanigan, Aug. 4]. What a concept. In November, let’s have an equally prominent Business section story telling about the real range of these buses, and it won’t be 80 miles.
Does anyone but me remember Santa Monica’s meter maid carts? The promised range was under very specific conditions that did not include stopping every 100 feet to write a ticket. They were quietly put under a sheet and haven’t seen the light of day since.
Ebus’ Anders Eklov may well be right that hybrid buses will be dominant in 10 years, but not pure electric.
