The streets around El Dorado High School were relatively empty on the first day of class Tuesday.
New parking restrictions enacted last month by the City Council seemed to keep the neighborhood free of the rows of cars that used to annoy residents during school hours.
El Dorado Assistant Principal Bob Parish said the student parking lot, with 486 spaces for its 700 permitted students, had ample parking Tuesday.
But the real test of the new parking restrictions may come in the spring, when Parish said more juniors get their licenses and start driving to school.
The City Council voted Aug. 17 to limit student parking on the streets near El Dorado after area residents complained that they were unable to park there themselves.
