Sgt. Ronald A. Dickson was presented a plaque by Mayor Tim Keenan during Monday’s City Council meeting for his 30-year service to the city at the Cypress Police Department. Dickson, who was named Officer of the Year in 1972 and awarded a medal of valor in 1978 for pulling a suspect from a burning vehicle, announced his retirement earlier this month.
Flanked by two dozen staff members and fellow police officers at the meeting, Dickson attributed his success to his wife, Barbara, whom he called his true partner, and to the City Council and his colleagues.
