Mission Making a Comeback

Mission College has begun the process to restore athletic programs, President Tom Oliver said.
In a best-case scenario the school would field baseball and softball teams next spring, and men’s and women’s soccer and golf teams next school year.
Mission dropped athletics in July 1997 because of budget constraints.
FOOTBALL
* Quarterbacks Eric Holtfreter of Valley College and Mike Frost of Glendale were selected Western State Conference offensive co-players of the week.
Linebacker Damion Thompson of Valley and defensive back Dalton Coote of Ventura were defensive players of the week.
SOCCER
* Gentry Green of Cal State Northridge was selected Big Sky Conference offensive player of the week.
BASEBALL
* Adam Kennedy, an infielder from Cal State Northridge who has been called up by the St. Louis Cardinals, was selected to USA Today’s Minor League All-Star team.
Also listed were outfielder Eric Gillespie (Northridge, Detroit Tigers), and infielders Steve Sisco (Thousand Oaks High, Moorpark College, Atlanta Braves) and J.P. Roberge (St. Francis, Kansas City Royals).
GOLF
* Jonathan Feuerhelm, a sophomore at Alemany High, won the Simi Valley Junior Championship on Sunday at Simi Hills Golf Course, shooting 69-75--144.
VOLLEYBALL
* Setter Michaela Skelly of Royal High has committed to Syracuse.
