SACRAMENTO — A Kern County woman has been charged with killing her friend by running her over with a car during an argument, according to Sacramento Police.
Christie Lynn Young, 27, of Buttonwillow died late Tuesday in a Sacramento hospital of injuries she suffered Sept. 5.
Mbulu Johnson, 28, also of Buttonwillow, has been in Sacramento County Jail since she was booked Sept. 6 on one count of assault with a deadly weapon. A murder charge was added Wednesday, police said.
The two left a downtown bar early on Sept. 5 and discovered their car had been burglarized, police said. The two got into the car and began arguing. At an intersection, Young got out and started walking. Johnson then hit her with the car, turned around and drove over her, authorities said.
Johnson was arrested when she tried to visit Young in the hospital.
