Who’s Really Doing Renovation Anyway?
I find the “conspicuous consumption” column (“Hot Property”) a little irritating although basically innocuous.
What I do find somewhat laughable is your phraseology concerning property alterations.
The “celebrity” is described as being in the process of renovating, remodeling or rebuilding: e.g., “he or she is adding a guest house, etc., and is almost finished. He or she will next refurbish the pool.”
I can just picture the “celeb” out there with hammer, saw, bucket of paint and shovel busily working away in the hot sun.
Wouldn’t it be more accurate to report that he or she is “having the house renovated in accordance with a designer-architect’s plans”?
On the other hand, who really cares anyway, except for the people hired to do the job?
