Bradshaw Leaving a Similar Legacy

I was saddened to read about the resignation of Simi Valley High boys’ basketball coach Dean Bradshaw.

I have been to many of the games he has so skillfully coached throughout the past four years. I had the opportunity to see him develop and teach basketball skills to the young athletes who were under his guidance.

I have seen him not only coach, but be there as a friend, teacher and someone his students could go to for any reason.

Bradshaw always made time for every player, no matter what role he had on the team. I cannot imagine future players and students not getting the opportunity to be coached by this giving and gifted coach.

We will miss watching him coach, but will continue to attend games and support the program.

I have known Dean Bradshaw for the past 18 years. He is a very loyal, positive and enthusiastic individual who has dedicated his life to helping young men. I played for Bradshaw at Simi Valley High. His contributions with the basketball program were key to many successful seasons and just as many successes off the court.

Bradshaw is a student of the game. He is one of the best teachers of the game I’ve been associated with. His ability to make game-time adjustments is unparalleled.

His teams were well-disciplined, fundamentally sound and well-prepared. His clubs were noted for playing extremely hard, reflective of his tenacious personality. He excelled as a coach and brought success and pride to the Simi Valley community.

His passion for basketball and his ability to relate to young people made him very special to their success. He was an educator, a motivator and a role model. He was a relentless worker who settled for nothing less than the best from himself and those around him.

He brought to every task a dedication and fire that became contagious. No job was ever too menial or too monumental for him. Dean was also a very good communicator who went the extra mile to help players and parents with various questions and concerns.
