Chmura Is Out for Season

Associated Press

The Green Bay Packers put Pro Bowl tight end Mark Chmura on injured reserve, meaning he will sit out the rest of the season.

Chmura, who has been selected to the Pro Bowl three times, was deactivated because of “some recurrent symptoms from his neck injury,” Packer General Manager Ron Wolf said Saturday in a news release.

Chmura has been plagued by a bulging disk. He had numbness in his hands and arms for the third time in six weeks during last Sunday’s game against Detroit.

Mike Brown, president of the Cincinnati Bengals, says the team might have to play at least one exhibition game at Cinergy Field next year if the club’s new stadium isn’t ready.

Because of uncertainty about the opening date for Paul Brown Stadium, Brown asked the Cincinnati Reds to delay plans to replace their artificial turf with grass.
