Actors Help With Students’ Eye Exams

About 30 volunteers from the Screen Actors Guild Foundation teamed up with local optometrists Monday to provide free vision exams for about 250 children at a South-Central Los Angeles elementary school.
Volunteers who helped give the exams at Grape Street Elementary included actor Mitch Ryan from the television show “Dharma and Greg,” and actress Hudson Leick from “Xena, Princess Warrior.”
The exams were the first in what is expected to be an ongoing effort between the guild and the Los Angeles Eye Institute to help the Los Angeles Unified School District screen children for vision problems that are often confused for learning problems.
