Six Helps Esperanza Beat Rosary in Tennis

Kelly Six improved her record to 20-1 on the season as Esperanza defeated Rosary, 12-6, in a nonleague girls’ tennis match Monday at the Anaheim Racquet Club.
Six won, 6-1, 6-3, 6-0, and Jenny Grob and Christine Pham won in doubles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-4, to improve to 14-4 on the season for the Aztecs (6-1).
In other nonleague matches:
Edison 10, El Toro 8--Lauren Bowell and freshman Kelly Iwanabe each swept in singles for host Edison (4-3). Bowell won, 6-2, 6-3, 6-0, and Iwanabe won, 7-6, 6-2, 6-0.
No. 9 Laguna Hills 18, Orange 0--Tricia Lee, playing at No. 1 singles for Laguna Hills, swept 6-1, 6-0, 6-0. Laguna Hills is 5-1.
Ocean View 13, Costa Mesa 5--Katherine Nguyen won, 6-3, 6-0, 6-1, and Vanessa Shank and Noha Wagdy swept in doubles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-1, for Ocean View (6-2).
No. 5 Woodbridge 15, Los Alamitos 3--Adriana Hockicko and Elizabeth Exon both won in singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, to lead visiting Woodbridge (4-1).
In the Santa Ana District girls’ tennis tournament:
Santa Ana 126, Santa Ana Valley 98, Century 89--Santa Ana won the team title behind Karina Zaragoza, who won the singles title with a 6-2, 7-6 victory over teammate Leslie Vu. Fabiola Vertiz and Araceli Garcia won the doubles title for Santa Ana Valley.
In nonleague girls’ golf:
Edison 120, Cypress 146--Sophomore Jennifer Kim was medalist, shooting a seven-over 38 at David L. Baker for Edison (1-2).
No. 7 Esperanza 138, Canyon 156--Freshman Kayley Parrett made five pars and shot a eight-over par 44 for Esperanza (4-1) at Anaheim Hills.
Esperanza JV 119, Orange 125--Sophomore Amy Uraine made two birdies and and shot seven-over 36 for Esperanza (4-1) at Birch Hills.
No. 1 University 241, No. 3 Marina 272--Sophomore Angela Won shot a three-over 75 to lead University (4-0) Meadowlark and Strawberry Farms. Courtney Goebel led Marina (4-1) with a 76.
No. 4 Villa Park 130, El Dorado 155--Sophomore Priscilla Park shot a three-over 39 for Villa Park (3-4) at Green River. Shelly Raworth shot a 40 for the Spartans.
In Academy League girls’ volleyball:
Capistrano Valley Christian 3, Southern California Christian 1--Senior Sarah Wild had 11 kills and freshman setter Abby Pierik had 22 assists for Capistrano Valley Christian (3-2, 2-1), which won, 15-6, 15-2, 9-15, 15-5.
In nonleague girls’ volleyball:
Estancia 3, Westminster 0--Katie Menden had five aces and Lauren Cassity had six kills in visiting Estancia’s 15-3, 15-2, 15-3 victory.
