A special meeting of the City Council to consider whether to adopt the Hillside Heritage Initiative without putting it to a popular vote will be held Aug. 9. The meeting had originally been set for Aug. 8, but the date was changed because of scheduling difficulties.
The ballot measure would require developments that affect the environment to be approved by a majority of Brea voters. Critics have complained the initiative would open the city to lawsuits.
