Motherly Love
“I hope that I am the first person to welcome you to Philadelphia, the city of motherly love,” a proud Barbara Bush told the delegates Tuesday at the Republican convention. She then introduced “a great man that we love very much--the next president of the United States, George W. Bush.”
She then looked up at the giant screen where an image of her son was projected. Speaking to the delegates while traveling to Philadelphia, he got a big laugh by recalling how someone once told him: “George W., you may have your daddy’s eyes, but you have your mother’s mouth.”
Former First Lady Barbara Bush addresses convention delegates Tuesday night.
