Woman Sentenced in Gun Smuggling

A woman who holds dual Irish and American citizenship has been sentenced to 20 months in federal prison for her role in an operation that shipped guns to Northern Ireland. Three reputed members of the Irish Republican Army face sentencing later. Authorities said the group wanted to disrupt the Northern Ireland peace accord. Siobhan Browne, who in March pleaded guilty to conspiring to buy handguns, said in court in Fort Lauderdale that she got in over her head by buying about 20 guns for her boyfriend, co-defendant Anthony Smyth.
