** Jo Dee Messina, “Burn,” Curb.

Several songs by the writers of a couple of Faith Hill’s hits on board, as well as Hill’s hubby, Tim McGraw, again co-producing, it’s not a huge surprise the Massachusetts singer’s third album, which just debuted atop the country chart, veers further than ever into pop-rocking Hill-Twain territory. It’s also top-heavy with stop-and-smell-the-roses philosophizing, a little of which usually goes more than far enough. Some individual moments are fetching enough, but it’s a shame Messina has all but abandoned the bluesy, Bonnie Raitt-like stuff that highlighted her previous album, “I’m Alright.”
