Man Dies, 2 Hurt in Shooting

An 18-year-old Santa Ana man was killed and two teens were injured in a gang-related shooting at a birthday party in Santa Ana late Friday night.
Israel Ovalle was talking with other party-goers in the backyard of a home in the 1200 block of South Orange Avenue when he became involved in an argument with a group of gang members who had crashed the party, police said.
One of the individuals pulled out a handgun and shot at Ovalle several times, striking him and the other youths, ages 16 and 17.
Authorities were called to the home shortly after 11:30 p.m. Ovalle was found dead at the scene. The younger victims had already left the house to seek medical attention for minor injuries at Coastal Communities Hospital in Santa Ana.
Police were still searching for the suspects Saturday.
